Allergy Shots
Allergy shots, also known as subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) are administered via injection to provide relief to patients suffering from allergic rhinitis and asthma.
Allergy shots are gradually increasing doses of injected allergens. Taking allergy shots can help your body develop immunity or improve your tolerance towards allergens. At Scotch Institute of Ear, Nose & Throat, we offer allergy shots for patients in need of relief.

Allergy shots can be administered prior to seasonal changes to help prevent symptoms from oncoming pollen.
Patients with ongoing allergy symptoms can receive allergy shots throughout the year. We may begin with allergy injections with a weekly build-up and a maintenance dose (in which the time between treatments is nine to 12 months to prevent any negative reactions).
Don’t forget to ask your doctor what precautions you should take before receiving your allergy shots, along with discussing any medical conditions, pregnancy, or serious illnesses you may be facing.

Gain Lasting Allergy Relief
Your symptoms may decrease as early as three months into your maintenance treatment.
It is recommended that you continue allergy shot treatment for three to five years—in many cases, patients who continue treatment for this period still receive lasting relief once the shots have stopped. If you have not noticed any improvement in your symptoms within one to two years of treatment, your physician will discuss alternative treatment options with you.
